Gamble House Passes 1 more Hurdle. On to Council Vote Today!

The Gamble House is one step closer to designation as a local historic landmark.

Yesterday the Livable Communities Committee passed a recommendation for the Gamble house to become a historic Landmark. Today at 2 o'clock the Gamble House designation will face its final step before the entire city council.

Support is expected to be extensive. The ONLY opposition has been from the Greenacres Foundation which wants to bulldoze the home which is on the 2010 Ohio's Most Endangered List.
Support to save the Gamble house has been national and international. The groups facebook page has over 2700 members.

The house is currently in litigation over the city refusal of a demolition permit. Cincinnati Preservation Association has tendered a formal offer to purchase the Gamble house and are in negotiation with the Greenacres Foundation.

The battle over the Gamble House has been quite contentious with several protests (including one in Indian Hills), the deliberate destruction of interior elements by Greenacres in an attempt to influence the court about the house's condition, as well as numerous complaints to the State Attorney Generals Office asking for an investigation into the Greenacres Board and revocation of their 501C3 non profit status.
