Monday utility crews were at the Irish Cliffs Apartments 1958-1964 Fairmount cutting and disconnecting all utilities. A good sign that demolition on this neighborhood eyesore may be soon. The Knox Hill Neighborhood Association had listed this property on their top 5 "Hit List" of problem properties in the neighborhood which is on its way back.
Removal of this eyesore will improve the entrance to the western end of the Neighborhood and eliminate a major source of blight and crime in the area.
The properties were built in 1958 and are not contributing structures to the historic character of the neighborhood. Knox Hill Neighborhood Association hopes to work with the city on a plan to develop the site.
The building across the street at 1932 Harrison, owned by Sarah Properties, is currently involved in legal action with the city and that action is winding its way through the courts. that property is viewed a a historic contributing structure and the association hopes it can be saved and restored
Another property on the neighborhood hit list at 1861 Knox, owned by Destiny Ventures LLC, is
headed to hearing on April 4th.
