Cincinnati West Side Preservation Summit a Sucess!

Community leaders from across the west side came together Saturday to discuss the future of Westside preservation. The summit sponsored by Cincinnati Preservation Association and Comey and Sheperd Realtors, was held at the Westwood library.
The interim director of CPA opened the summit with a welcome address.

There were several speakers from the city in attendance including Ed Cunningham and Larry Harris.
Jim McNulty gave a great presentation on Westwood's targeted demolition policy which is aimed at abandoned and neglected apartment buildings that are non contributing structures to that neighborhood and adversely affect the quality of life of the community.
I gave a presentation of preservation practices and what we can learn from other cities, as well as what lobby and legislative initiatives we need to work for to make our community a better place.
Dave Zelman from Riverside, gave a great presentation about the hidden architectural gems of the Westside. Houses that are not on the city historic building survey report but should be.

Danny Klinger gave a presentation on Over the Rhine and their efforts at marketing their neighborhood effectively.
Knox Hill had a display with historical and other information about our neighborhood.
Plans are already underway for future meetings and a steering committee.
