It has been a busy year from our consulting business side (despite my trying to scale back). We consulted on a total of 16 restoration projects this year in 12 states. From a new carriage house design and construction for a client, a couple of stencilling restoration projects, 3 complete long range Restoration plans for clients., some custom build cabinetry projects and some wallpaper installations. In the area of neighborhood and community development we wrote several neighborhood grant proposals as well as developed 3 long range community development projects for 3 groups in 3 different states.
On the home front, our 1915 Craftsman was featured on "HGTV Rate My Space" and was the 'inspiration' home for one of their show projects.
We also launched two new e-commerce sites, one on Ecrater ( which you can get to from our blog specializing in antiques lithography), http://victorianantiquities.ecrater.com/ as well as our blujay site http://victorianantiquities.blujay.com/ We also launched our Victorian restorer website with tips for "Old house people' http://thevictorianrestorer.googlepages.com/home . This was also the year in which we produced a new CD dedicated to Victorian architecture which we sell on all our sites. This CD is now used as a fundraising tool for many community organizations and as an educational resource.
Despite a bad economy we were able to save an 1880 Italianate from demolition in Missouri as well as find new owners for 2 homes here in Indy.
We also selected Cincinnati as our new home for 2009. We purchased a 1871 Second empire cottage in 2008 (saving it from the indignities of being a slum rental), and hope to get it livable this summer. We now look forward to finding a commercial building to locate our Victorian design center and antiques showroom as well as a location for "Gallery 1885" a new art gallery specializing in historic art and rare books.
